THE ZOMBIE RUN 2024

Zombie Run:  November 8, 2024

General REGISTRATION opens:  Oct 6, 2024!

Please read the following before registering using the link at the bottom of the page!

For students in grades 3 and older of Singapore American School, the HS Gawad Kalinga service club is proud to present Zombie Run 2024!

First and foremost, the SAS high school GK service club would like to thank the SAS community for their overwhelming perennial support.  Our SAS GK village in Dalaguete, Cebu, Philippines has benefited significantly over the years due primarily to the success of our annual Zombie Run event.

Last year, the Zombie Run presented some recurring and new challenges.  After much reflection and consultation with school administration, we have decided that we will produce Zombie Run 2024 as an event only for students in 3rd grade and older and their parents.  The main reasons for this change are:

Safety concerns with our runners in the youngest grades
Appropriateness of the event for younger students
Requiring adults to accompany the youngest students
Waves selling out quickly

We feel that our capacity to accommodate more students in older grades and our ability to ensure their safety will both now be significantly increased. But we also understand that some may be disappointed with this decision.

However, we are pleased to share that because of this change, there is another fundraising event being planned in the high school service community for the spring semester
specifically tailored to students in grades 2 and below!  We will direct these families to this event later in the school year.  Stay tuned for more information!

YOU BETTER RUN!
After a successful return of the Zombie Run in recent years, the Zombies are back in the flesh and hungrier than ever before. The Zombie Run is a 1.5km fun race across the entire SAS campus. Runners will encounter infested "Zombie Zones" where they have to protect their "lives" from the Zombies. These "lives" are similar to flag football; they are ribbons attached to a belt tied around the waist that the Zombies will attempt to pull off as you run by. Runners will also be able to rest in short safe zones scattered across the route.

Last year, we introduced new flag football belts that will hold our flags, and so we are excited to re-use them for the first time and reduce waste!

Every participating runner (parent or child), will be required to register and pay via our Eventbrite event. Your $50 ticket includes a race pack and admission to Zombie Run 2024. The race pack includes a T-shirt, a race day info sheet, and a belt with 3 flags (“lives”). Various amounts of American candy will be provided for the finishers. Extra lives flags can be purchased at the event for $2 each, or 3 for $5. We strongly recommend runners bring their own, LABELED water bottle.

The Zombie Run will be subdivided into approximately 5 "waves,” separated by grade level for safety reasons, and also for level of zombie interaction. Waves are limited by capacity for safety as well as the overall scope of the event that we feel we are able to offer as a student-run high school service club.

New for 2024:  In order to provide access for more families prior to sellouts, we have decided to restructure the wave ticketing slightly for this year.  When ticket sales open, general Zombie Run tickets will be available to any student in grades 3 and up or their parent(s) until we reach total overall capacity (or by November 1, whichever is earlier).  At that time, we will assign students to waves based on the grade-level distribution of those who have signed up, in order to keep the total number of runners per wave within safety limits.  We will notify parents via email of their child(ren)’s wave number at that time, and waves will be designated by belt flag colors, which each runner will receive in their race packs during the delivery period.

Waves will run in order by age, starting with the youngest (3rd grade).  We anticipate that the waves will start approximately 20 minutes apart, beginning at 6:30pm, and we are targeting a total of 4 waves.

Waves have been assigned as follows:

Wave 1 = Grade 3 (and their parents) = YELLOW flags

Wave 2 = Grade 4 (and their parents) = RED flags

Wave 3 = Grade 5 (and their parents) = YELLOW flags

Wave 4 = Grades 6 and above (and their parents) = RED flags

We sincerely apologize that the wave/color information was incorrect in the printed race pack slips that were sent out!

We thank you for your patience and flexibility!

Thankfully, T-shirt sizes this year range from child's 28 to adult XXL!  Children's sizes match SAS uniform sizing numbers. The size chart can be found here. We WILL NOT offer changes in the sizes once ordered.

UPDATE:  We are sorry, but at this point, we are sold out of all sizes larger than Adult S.

Our plan is to have food available for purchase during the event, as in previous years.

Race packs have already been distributed to classroom teachers!  Please check with your teacher if you have not received your race pack.

Orders are now closed for classroom delivery.  Any further orders from this point on will need to be collected at the HELP DESK in the stadium field just prior to the event.  If you order from this point onward, please bring your Eventbrite confirmation with you when you pick up your race pack AT Zombie Run.

Rain date: Saturday, 9 November. Please be aware that should both race dates be canceled due to rain, there will be no refunds. We thank you for your donation and understanding.

The HS GK Club would like to thank IPAU and Photo Club, as well as all of our wonderful adult volunteers for their support.
